MULTIPLE TESTING

We’re working on a long-term medical implant and need expertise in material characterization and process development. We’re investigating non-invasively triggered polymerization of PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) and exploring chemical, light, and heat polymerization methods. Our primary goals are to determine the feasibility of each method, optimize polymerization parameters, and characterize the resulting material.

We’re particularly interested in partnering with a Virginia / Baltimore / Mid-Atlantic region laboratory for:

- Material selection: support to source relevant materials for testing from different medical-grade vendors.

- Thermal analysis: heat release, dissipation, and phase transitions during polymerization.

- Mechanical properties: compressive, impact, tensile, and bending strength, and hardness of the final material.

- Process development: optimizing polymerization conditions for consistency and performance.


The initial scope of work would focus on selecting viable polymerization methods and developing an MVP. If successful, we anticipate a small-scale manufacturing phase. We’d like to understand the capabilities and whether this project aligns with your lab's expertise. Specifically, we’re interested in a lab's:


- Experience with PMMA synthesis, polymerization studies, and material characterization.


- Testing and analysis services available.

- Potential for process development collaboration.

- Preliminary quote for relevant services.
