Fixturing Epoxy Swelling and Softening Study
Project Description
USA OR CANADA LABORATORY
USA or Canada IEC / ISO 17025 Accredited laboratory needed to conduct a study to assess the swelling and softening of a fixturing epoxy when exposed to different solvent mixtures. Ideally, the solvents would be one of (or a mixture of) the following:
Water
Ethanol
Acetone
2-propanol (isopropyl)
The following solvents are also approved for testing if the above solvents do not have sufficient performance:
Propylene carbonate
Ethyl Lactate
gamma-Valerolactone
Ethylene carbonate
Ethylene glycol
Cyrene (https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/US/en/product/sial/807796#)
The goal of the project is to find a solvent or solvent mixture that quickly swells and softens the epoxy. This is needed to allow depotting of embedded metal parts from one of our manufacturing processes. Additionally, we want the solvent mixture to be one that can be easily cleaned off of the metal parts after processing.
