Urine Bag Chemotherapy Drug Permeability Level Study Testing
Project Description
Medical Device Laboratory needed to conduct chemotherapy drug permeability level study of cyto-toxic contents in urine bag (chemotherapy permeability testing). We will be providing clean urine bag around 8 samples with different type of material and contents (Examples: DEHP free, PP & with SAP) to conduct the test, using chemotherapy drugs.
Objectives:
To evaluate the penetration level of cytotoxic fluid (urine) via a double-sealed urine bag
To assess the ability of SAP (Sodium Polyacrylate) to trap cytotoxic fluid in a urine bag
Expected outcome:
No penetration of fluid (no residues on the surface) from the bag for both types of materials as stated above and also for the bag with and without SAP.
In order, to provide maximum safety for the healthcare workers as the cytotoxic level contents in chemotherapy patient's urine hazardous.
The higher performance of SAP in solidifying the cytotoxic fluid without any occurrence of evaporation in the air.
As well as to ensure no leakage of urine happened from the bag and to ease the disposal process.
