Laboratory Test Request

Food Research and Development Studies

Project Description

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
USA LABORATORY
USA Food Research and Development Laboratory needed set up a panel of tests on material that we have very limited quantities of (and is very costly to produce). This material is a lyophilized protein powder that is approximately 50% crude protein and 50% salts.

The material is an R&D material so this data will be used for R&D purposes, it will not be used for a quality program or release of a food product. The testing needed is microbiological as well as chemical.

In considering the limited quality and R&D purpose of the data, I would like to start negotiations on how low we can get the required sample amounts for the tests included in this panel.

For instance, I have completed several of these analyses myself in the past and have used on the order of <100 mg per sample rather than 25 grams per sample for tests like protein by combustion, fat by fatty acid profile, and icp mineral analysis. But of course I do not know the specifics of your protocols and how they differ.

This is why I was hoping each of the tests in this panel could be evaluated individually and the smallest amount of material necessary could be submitted for each test depending on the particulars of each assay. The tests are as follows.

APC
Coliforms
Salmonella
Listeria
E. coli
Yeast and Mold
Mositure
Protein
Fat by Fatty Acid Profile
Fat- Mojonnier
Ash
Carbohydrates
Heavy Metals Screen (ICPMS)
Full Mineral Screen (ICPMS)
