Perfume Chemical Composition (38 Samples)
Project Description
MULTIPLE TESTS
MULTIPLE PRODUCTS
Contract Laboratory needed for perfumes testing to determine the percentage consumed in a perfume as in Oil% and Alochol% to evaluate the contents by the following test methods:
1. Infrared Spectroscopy (chemical composition of the material)
Method:
Polarimeter with Sodium Lamp is used to detect if polarized light is rotated after passing through different perfume samples.
Specification:
If optical rotation of the mixture is zero, indicates natural compound. Checks aromatic ingredients present with respect to reference standard.
2. GC/ MS (Gas chromatography by mass spectrometry)
Method:
Applying flame ionization detector response correction factors, accuracy of perfume formulation is checked.
3. Headspace Analysis
Method:
Liquid is placed in a vial sealed and heated to a specific temp. so that volatile components escape to headspace. Gas is injected to headspace to separate components. The component separated is identified by taking it to mass selective detector.
4. Refractive Index (Purity test)
Method:
Refractometer used to determine RI of different compounds
Specification:
Should be between 1.3 to 1.7
