Materials laboratory needed to determine if the new vendors pin is acceptable. We currently use a 4mm diameter x 150mm long pin fabricated from H-13 tool steel in a tool assembly.
1) Section both the current pin and the new pin at indicated diameter
2) Perform microhardness trace across diameters of both pins
3)Produce metallurgical mounts and do an analysis of grain structures to determine if both samples are the same grade of steel and if grain structures are comparable
4)Part is chrome plated to a depth of .003"/side. Measure depth of chrome plating on the sample piece
