MULTIPLE LABORATORIES Laboratories needed for certification testing of technique to produce reference materials of a very resistive material by micro-analysis (LA-ICP-MS, µXRF, LIBS etc.). Right now we are in the planning stages of certifying a magnetite (Fe3O4) reference material.Therefore, we are looking for several laboratories to participate in our round robin. Since magnetite is a very resistive mineral I was wondering if you have the capabilities to dissolve it since conventional acid digestions (i.e. aqua regia HF perchloric acid) fail to do so.The usual way to go is Na-peroxide or Li-borate fusion with subsequent analyses.We are going to do a screening, using LA-ICP-MS, of the samples on the 6th of February. Afterwards we will be able to give you some more information on desired analytes an their concentration range.Please let us know if this sort of analysis is within your area of expertise.Kind regards,Simon
