Laboratory Test Request

Cannabis Filter TIps Chemistry, Sensory, Compliance, Intended USe, and Certification Testing

Project Description

USA OR MEXICO LABORATORY
MULTIPLE TESTING
Contract Laboratory needed for chemistry, sensory, compliance, intended use and certification testing of cannabis filter tips in compliance with industry standards. The testing includes:
2. Intended Use
The custom filter tips are primarily designed for use as branded smoking tips in the cannabis industry. Where CBD or Cannabis flower are rolled in a smokable rolling paper using our filter tips. The manufacturing process involves injection molding using Polyagave or Hemp materials.
3. Testing Scope
We intend to perform the following tests on our custom filter tips:
a. Heat Resistant Testing: Evaluate the filter tip's resistance to heat to ensure it does not catch fire or produce harmful byproducts when subjected to smoking conditions.
b. Chemical Analysis for Byproducts: Examine the filter material to confirm that no harmful chemical byproducts are released during use.
4. Questions to the Testing Laboratory
a. Test Methodologies:
i. What ASTM methods are applicable for heat resistance and chemical analysis testing?
ii. What are the industry-recognized test methods you employ for such evaluations?
b. Heat Resistance Testing:
i. Can you replicate the conditions where the filter tip is exposed to an ember to test its resistance to
burning?
ii. Are you equipped to perform conditional use testing where the ember contacts the filter?
c. Filter Material:
i. We intend to use natural fibers from the Agave or Hemp plant. Can you verify their heat resistance
capabilities?
d. Chemical Byproducts Analysis:
i. How will you conduct a chemical analysis to ensure no harmful byproducts are generated during use?
e. Flavor and Sensory Testing:
i. Can you perform tests to confirm that the filter does not affect the flavor of the smoked material?
f. Standard Compliance:
i. Are the testing methods compliant with ASTM standards?
g. Alternative Materials:
i. Are you able to use hemp material for testing purposes? If hemp cannot be used, what natural
materials can be utilized to simulate its properties? h. Realistic Testing Conditions:
i. How will you ensure that the testing conditions accurately represent real-world usage?
5. Testing Process
We require the following specific tests and evaluations.
a. Flavor and Sensory Testing: Confirm that the filter does not impact the flavor of the smoked material.
b. Durability Testing: Determine if the filter tip breaks down, catches fire, or produces any chemical byproducts
under simulated smoking conditions.
c. Standard Compliance: Ensure that the testing adheres to established standards such as ASTM.
i. Use with Hemp or Alternatives: Assess the filter's suitability for use with hemp or suggest alternative natural materials that meet our requirements.
