RFQ Multiple Sequential Extractions and Mobilisation Experiments

MULTIPLE TESTS
Environmental Laboratory needed for the following sequential extractions & mobilisation experiments:

Three (3) soil samples and a 1:2 distilled water leach to be undertaken and followed by As determination (done in triplicate so 9 analyses in total),
Then using three (3) different soil samples, do sequential extractions (i.e leach and use a centrifuge or similar to keep the soil fraction for further leaching). Sample size should be adjusted so that the analysis detection level doesn't interfere.

Readily soluble arsenic through a distilled water and methanol leach,
Loosely adsorbed arsenic through sodium acetate (buffered to pH8.2 with NaOH or HNO3),
Carbonate bound arsenic through sodium acetate (buffered to pH5),
Arsenic bound to iron and manganese hydroxides through hydroxylammine chloride (buffered to pH5),
Arsenic bound within clays and humic substances by HCl (pH2, followed by NaOH, pH9),
Residual arsenic through Aqua Regia

Once these sequential extractions are complete, the second phase is focussed on mobilisation of arsenic through oxalic acid, EDTA and sodium dithionite + EDTA.

For this we need the following:

Three (3) different concentrations of oxalic acid,
Three (3) concentrations of EDTA (VerseneT) and two (2) fixed soil pH's,
Three (3) concentrations of sodium dithionite with added EDTA.

These values would then be compared to see if we can mobilise more arsenic and where that arsenic will be found in the soil.
