A new ASTM International standard developed by a committee on building seals and sealants, is aimed at helping manufacturers and regulators understand building sealants and how they can change when stretched or compressed. The new standard will help quantify sealant behavior regarding stretching and tear strength, helping manufacturers understand and measure stress in all kinds of sealant formulations.
