In the United States the National Organic Program has set standards for a product to be labeled as organic.  In other countries other regulating bodies can set their own standards.  For a product to be labeled as organic it must be grown, produced, inspected, and certified in compliance with these standards.  There are different statements that can be made in marketing depending on the level of how organic a product is.   

Green and Organic Product Testing is a process by which an Organic Certifying Agent verifies that the production process of a product meets USDA organic standards.  Each step that a product goes through before reaching the consumer must be verified.
