Public Health

Public health is important to all people.  Often it is an overlooked but critical part of maintaining a happy community.  Public health services that may be offered in an area are the ensuring of safe drinking water, disease testing and management, newborn screenings, vaccination programs, educational programs and more. 

Public health testing can take on many different forms.  The testing of water quality or chemical exposures can be environmental tests that are one aspect of public health.  Testing of newborns for genetic and metabolic disorders is another public health service.  Along with newborn screenings, other medical tests that can diagnose infectious disease or a biological or chemical threat are often a part of a public health service plan.  These tests examine the health of an individual to provide information about how to keep a community healthy.
