Overview

Northeast Laboratory Services is a full-service, accredited laboratory providing a wide range of environmental analytical chemistry and microbiology testing services, and manufactured microbiological prepared media products. NEL employs over 70 full and part-time laboratory technicians, support service personnel and administrators and has two facilities. The Chemistry Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory and Media Manufacturing Laboratory are located at 227 China Road in Winslow, Maine. Administrative offices are also located in Winslow, Maine.The Food Microbiology Laboratory is located at 120 Main Street in Westbrook, Maine. The Westbrook facility also serves as a satellite location for all departments and is utilized for courier and field services.

Standards & Methodologies

At NEL, our Analytical Quality Management System is based on guidelines established by ISO,  NELAC, State of Maine and AOAC.   We analyze: Food, Drinking Water, Waste Water, Ground Water, Bottled Water, Soil, Air and Surface samples using AOAC,  EPA,  Standard Methods, and In-House developed methodologies (IAQ, certified by AIHA). We run annual PTs for all analyses, and require documented training for all analysts prior to analyzing client samples.

Our Media Quality Assurance Program ensures all media meets the highest quality specifications, to provide the best possible product to our customers.  Our quality testing is comprehensive and can meet current USP or custom quality testing standards. All in vitro diagnostics are compliant with applicable CLSI Standards. Our Quality team will work with custom formulations to provide the testing specifications that your lab needs.  With a BSL-II laboratory on-site, our Quality team can challenge media with standard or customer-specific organisms to ensure optimal performance.
