Neuroscience Research Laboratory at Methodist Research Institute?

Overview

The Neuroscience Research Laboratory investigates mechanisms in the regulation of growth, immune and inflammatory responses relevant to multiple sclerosis (MS), cancer, stem cell biology, inflammation and autoimmune diseases. We use state-of-the-art cell biology, immunology and biochemistry molecular biology techniques to discover novel inflammatory signatures, biomarkers and drug targets for human diseases.

Preclinical testing: We develop stem cell transplant therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. We study self-renewal, growth and angiogenesis of cancer stem cells. We identify biomarkers and develop novel therapies to target cancer and cancer stem cells and for immune, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. We use relevant animal models of multiple sclerosis, cancer and inflammation for preclinical testing.

Bioanalytical testing: We measure cytokine and other biomolecules, cell surface markers, gene expression, genotyping, proliferation, cell cycling, cell death, apoptosis, necrosis, angiogenesis, cell culture and maintenance, flow cytometry.
