November 30, 2023 ? Health and social services organizations are responsible for providing sustainable, safe, reliable, integrated, and people-centred care throughout a client?s journey and across the continuum of care. The continuum of care includes the full spectrum of health and social programs and services designed to meet client and community health and well-being needs and goals throughout the life course. The continuum of care encompasses health promotion and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, recovery, palliative, and end-of-life care.
Health and social services organizational leaders are invited to think beyond the boundaries of their organizations and partner with system partners to provide integrated and coordinated services that meet the needs of clients and communities, and improve care experiences and health outcomes.
To that end, Health Standards Organization (HSO) is proud to announce the release of its National Standard of Canada, CAN/HSO 1003:2023 (E) Clinical Governance.?
This standard guides health and social services organizations as they define and develop their clinical governance structures and practices. It applies to health and social services organizations that provide clinical programs and services across the continuum of care. It enables health and social services organization leaders and organizational clinical decision-making teams to develop and improve the clinical governance structure and implement clinical governance practices. The objective of the standard is to improve the delivery of clinical programs and services, care experiences, and care outcomes across the continuum of care.
This standard development is only made possible from the contributions of lived experience and expertise from HSO?s Clinical Governance Working Group and Leadership and Governance Technical Committee.
