Project Description

Materials Laboratory needed for ASTM spontaneous combustion testing of a paint stripping product applied to cloth according to ASTM D6801-07, Standard Test Method for Measuring Maximum Spontaneous Heating Temperature of Art and Other Materials. The paint stripping product to be tested contains 3 solvents (methyl acetate CAS# 79-20-9, dimethyl sulfoxide CAS#67-68-5, and 1,3 dioxolane CAS#646-06-0) and two additives (paraffin wax, and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose). The viscosity for this product is approximately 1,800 cp.
