Texas Laboratory needed for Lubricity Testing for O&G Pipe on Pipes. We have a customer who is wanting us to run an independent lubricity test on our Pipe on Pipe product used in Coiled Tubing vs. what they are currently using.
We typically use the below method but are open to better methods.
Method: Each lubricant is tested on the OFI Lubricity Tester. The lubricants were mixed with tap water at a loading of 0.25%, 1.5%, and 3%. The lubricity tester was set to 60 RPM (rotations per minute), and 150 inch-pounds of torque applied to the test block and test ring. The test ran for 5 minutes, and the torque reading of motor was recorded at the end of the 5 minutes. The percent torque reduction is calculated off the motor torque reading of the tap water being the blank value.
